This page explains how to raise a concern about anything you have read on Insight Britain, and what you can expect from us in return. We take complaints seriously because they help us maintain the accuracy and fairness our readers rely on. Whether you have spotted a factual mistake, an editorial breach, or something that does not meet our standards, the process is straightforward and designed to put things right promptly.
What should you do if you have a complaint?
Please send your complaint to complaints@insightbritain.co.uk, setting out the issue clearly and including a link to the article or page concerned. The more specific you can be about what you believe is wrong, the faster we can investigate. If the issue relates to a factual error, you may also find our corrections policy helpful, as it explains how we log and publish corrections. Complaints involving privacy concerns should reference our privacy policy, which outlines how we handle personal data.
We aim to acknowledge every complaint within two working days. If the matter is straightforward – for example, a minor factual error – we may resolve it immediately by correcting the article and noting the change. More complex complaints will be assigned to the relevant editor for review.
How will we handle your complaint?
Once we receive your complaint, the relevant department editor will assess it against our editorial policy and our published standards. We will keep you informed of progress and aim to give a full response within fifteen working days. If we need more time because the issue is detailed or involves multiple pieces of content, we will let you know and provide a revised timeline.
For complaints that raise serious editorial concerns – such as a potential breach of our fact-checking commitments or an undisclosed conflict of interest – our Editor-in-Chief, Edward Davies Bennett, will oversee the investigation personally. You can reach him directly at edward.bennett@insightbritain.co.uk if you feel the initial handling has not been satisfactory. He is responsible for all publication decisions and for ensuring our corrections process is followed.
How this works in practice
Imagine you read an article on Insight Britain that claims a government policy was implemented in March 2024. You know from official records that it was enacted in April 2024. You email complaints@insightbritain.co.uk with the article link and your evidence. The news editor, Oliver Sutton, reviews the claim, checks the source, and confirms the error. He instructs a correction, adds a note at the bottom of the article, and logs the change in our corrections register. Within five working days you receive an email explaining what was corrected and why. The entire process is documented, and if you remain unhappy, the case is escalated to Edward Davies Bennett for a final review.
This example shows that you do not need to be an expert or a journalist to raise a concern. Our team is trained to treat every complaint with the same rigour, regardless of who submits it.
What if your complaint is not resolved?
If you have followed the steps above and still feel your complaint has not been addressed properly, you may escalate the matter to Edward Davies Bennett, Editor-in-Chief. He will personally re-examine the case, consult with the fact-checking team led by Sofia Lindberg, and issue a final decision. Because Insight Britain is owned and operated by Valletta Civic Media Ltd, a company registered in Malta (Malta Business Registry, registered office: 42 Harbour View Business Centre, Level 3, Triq San Bastjan, Valletta VLT 1472, Malta), the ultimate responsibility for editorial standards rests with the publisher. However, all complaints are handled within the UK editorial structure to ensure they are resolved fairly and promptly. For further guidance on our overall approach to accuracy and independence, please see our sources and standards page.
You can also contact us by post at our registered office address above, or by telephone on +356 2778 4100 (Malta) or +44 20 4587 9720 (UK editorial line). For general enquiries, use our contact page.
