This page explains who owns Insight Britain, how our work is paid for, and what safeguards keep our editorial decisions independent. It is here to help you judge the reliability of what you read and to make clear how you can raise questions about funding or ownership. If you have any queries, the contact details throughout this page are your direct route to the people responsible.
Who owns Insight Britain?
Insight Britain is owned and operated by Valletta Civic Media Ltd, a digital media and public‑affairs publishing company registered in Malta (Malta Business Registry). The registered office is at 42 Harbour View Business Centre, Level 3, Triq San Bastjan, Valletta VLT 1472, Malta. The company is the sole proprietor of the publication and of the insightbritain.co.uk domain. Valletta Civic Media Ltd provides the operational and commercial infrastructure that allows our journalists to work, but it does not influence editorial content. For any corporate or legal enquiries, you can contact the registered office or use the publisher email: publisher@insightbritain.co.uk.
How is Insight Britain funded?
Our funding comes from a mix of display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content‑licensing arrangements. Every piece of sponsored or commercial material is clearly labelled so you can tell it apart from independent journalism. Affiliate links are disclosed in the text or in a notice at the foot of the article. No advertiser, partner or sponsor ever determines the editorial conclusions of a story. The commercial team and the newsroom operate separately, and all revenue streams are managed transparently. If you are interested in advertising or partnerships, please write to advertising@insightbritain.co.uk or see our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure page.
How is editorial independence guaranteed?
Editorial independence is built into our governance. Edward Davies Bennett, our Editor‑in‑Chief and Responsible Publisher, has final authority over all editorial standards, publication decisions and corrections. He is accountable to readers, not to commercial interests. Our newsroom is led by named editors — Oliver Sutton (News Editor), Marcus Walsh (Politics & Public Affairs Editor), Helen Carter (Business & Economy Correspondent) and Rachel Dunn (Culture & Features Editor) — each responsible for their own sections. A dedicated Standards & Fact‑Checking Lead, Sofia Lindberg, verifies sources and handles corrections. You can meet the full team on our Our Team page. Our editorial policies are published separately: see our Editorial Policy and Fact‑Checking Policy for full details.
How this works in practice
Take a concrete example. Suppose a technology company sponsors our weekly newsletter. The sponsorship pays for the production and distribution of the newsletter, but the editorial team – led by Oliver Sutton – decides which stories to include and how they are written. The sponsor is not allowed to suggest, approve or veto any headline or article. If the same company later commissions a sponsored article about its products, that piece is clearly marked “Sponsored Content” at the top and bottom, and the author is identified as a freelance contributor rather than a staff journalist. The sponsor’s name appears, but the article is still fact‑checked by Sofia Lindberg’s team before publication. This separation ensures that you can always distinguish between independent journalism and paid commercial material.
Who is accountable for what you read?
The ultimate accountability rests with Edward Davies Bennett, who can be reached at edward.bennett@insightbritain.co.uk or by phone on +44 20 4587 9721. He reviews all major editorial decisions and oversees the corrections process. For day‑to‑day concerns about a specific article, you can contact the relevant editor directly – their email addresses are listed on the Our Team page. If you have a complaint about funding, advertising or sponsorship, please use the complaints procedure outlined in our Complaints Procedure or write to complaints@insightbritain.co.uk. For general questions about how we operate, our Contact page lists all function email addresses.
In short
Insight Britain is wholly owned by Valletta Civic Media Ltd, a Malta‑registered company, and funded through transparent commercial activities that never dictate editorial content. Every article you read is overseen by a named editor and fact‑checked before publication, with Edward Davies Bennett personally responsible for maintaining our independence and standards. This page, along with our published policies, is designed to give you the confidence that what you see here is trustworthy and fairly labelled.
