This page explains how Insight Britain handles sponsored content. If you are a reader, it tells you how to identify sponsored material and what guarantees we make about editorial independence. If you are a potential partner, it outlines the rules that govern our commercial collaborations. The same standards apply to every piece of content we publish.
What is sponsored content?
Sponsored content is any article, video or other material that a third party has paid Insight Britain to produce or publish. The sponsor may suggest a topic or provide background information, but the final content is always created and approved by our editorial team under the same journalistic standards we apply to all other articles.
This differs from display advertising, which is managed separately by our commercial team. Sponsored content is clearly labelled so you can always tell when a piece has been funded by an external partner. The label appears prominently at the top of the page and in any sharing metadata.
How can you tell if an article is sponsored?
Every sponsored article carries a visible disclosure at the beginning, typically a line such as “This article is sponsored by [Partner Name]”. The disclosure is never hidden, abbreviated or placed below the fold. It also appears on the article’s summary card and in social-media previews.
In addition, sponsored content is listed in a dedicated section of the site that is separate from our regular news feed. If you ever have any doubt about whether a piece is sponsored, please contact our fact-checking team at factcheck@insightbritain.co.uk.
How does sponsored content differ from affiliate links?
Affiliate links are a different commercial arrangement. When you click an affiliate link on Insight Britain and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That content is not paid for by the retailer or service provider, and our editorial team makes the decision to include the link.
Sponsored content, by contrast, involves a direct payment for the production or placement of a specific piece. The distinction is important: affiliate links never influence what we write, whereas sponsored content is funded by a partner. Full details of both practices are available on our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure page.
Does sponsorship affect our editorial independence?
No. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions. Every sponsored article is commissioned, written, reviewed and approved by our editorial team, led by Editor-in-Chief Edward Davies Bennett. The sponsor does not control the content, nor does it have the right to veto publication or demand changes that misrepresent facts.
Insight Britain is owned and operated by Valletta Civic Media Ltd, a Malta-based digital media company. Our commercial team handles sponsorship arrangements entirely separately from the newsroom. Our Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking Policy apply equally to sponsored and non-sponsored content. The Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Sofia Lindberg, oversees fact-checking for all published material, including sponsored pieces.
How this works in practice
To make this concrete, imagine a financial-services company wants to sponsor a guide to the UK property market. Our Business & Economy Correspondent, Helen Carter, would be assigned to write it. The sponsor provides general background materials but never sees the draft before it is reviewed by the editor and fact-checked. The final article carries a clear “Sponsored by” label at the top, a brief note about the commercial relationship, and a link to this Sponsored Content Policy. No financial advice is offered – the piece is strictly explanatory journalism, subject to the same source standards as any other article.

In short
