This page explains how Insight Britain is funded through advertising and affiliate links, and what that means for you as a reader. We want you to have complete confidence in the independence of our journalism, so we set out clearly where commercial arrangements exist and how they are separated from editorial decisions. Use this page as a reference whenever you see advertising or affiliate content on our site.
Why are we telling you this?
Transparency is central to the trust you place in Insight Britain. We believe you should know exactly how our journalism is supported financially, so you can evaluate any potential influences for yourself. Our editorial mission – clear, practical, carefully sourced journalism – is never compromised by commercial relationships, but we have a duty to be open about them.
This disclosure forms part of our broader commitment to honesty, alongside our Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking Policy. If you have any questions about funding or commercial arrangements, our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Sofia Lindberg, is available at factcheck@insightbritain.co.uk.
What counts as advertising on Insight Britain?
Advertising on Insight Britain includes display ads served through third-party networks, sponsored content clearly labelled as such, and commercial partnerships. All advertising is identified with a visible label – for example “Sponsored” or “Advertisement” – so you can distinguish it from editorial material. No advertiser or partner has any say over what we publish in our news and explainer articles.
Sponsored content is governed by our Sponsored Content Policy, which requires that such material is clearly marked and that editorial conclusions remain independent. Display advertising may appear alongside articles but is never allowed to determine the subject matter, tone, or conclusions of any piece. For details on the broader funding model, see our Ownership & Funding page.
What about affiliate links?
Affiliate links are links to products or services from which Insight Britain may earn a small commission if you make a purchase. These links are always disclosed, typically with a phrase such as “We may earn a commission if you buy through this link” placed near the link or at the bottom of the article. The commission does not increase the price you pay, and the presence of an affiliate link never influences our editorial judgment.
Our Business & Economy Correspondent, Helen Carter, and other writers may include affiliate links in articles about consumer goods, books, or services, but only where they believe the product is relevant and useful to our readers. Any article containing affiliate links will still meet the same Sources & Standards requirements for accuracy and sourcing.
How this works in practice
Imagine we publish a guide to the best noise-cancelling headphones for working from home. In that article, we include a link to a model sold by an online retailer. That link is an affiliate link: if you click it and buy the headphones, Insight Britain receives a small percentage of the sale. Our recommendation of that headphone model is based on independent research and testing, not on any commission arrangement. The affiliate relationship is disclosed in the article, and you are never charged extra. The same principle applies if we write about a book and link to a bookstore, or recommend a software subscription. The editorial content always comes first.
Who funds and owns Insight Britain?
Insight Britain is owned and operated by Valletta Civic Media Ltd, a Malta-based digital media and public-affairs publishing company registered with the Malta Business Registry. Our registered office is at 42 Harbour View Business Centre, Level 3, Triq San Bastjan, Valletta VLT 1472, Malta. The company funds the site through display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, and content licensing.

No commercial partner, advertiser, or affiliate network can override that authority. For the full breakdown of revenue sources and ownership structure, please visit our Ownership & Funding page.
